LED Presents another wild Ravehouse that simply kicked the sand right off the ground and into the sky as a massive flurry of electro lovers danced furiously from early afternoon to nightfall to the insane line-up that was presented before us this past Sunday, August 29th.

LA Riots lit the first headline fire early in the afternoon, setting the decks a blaze with a rage-worthy assortment of sonic goodies to totally twist the heads in the crowds.

And, O dear God, I think I may have gone a “little” overboard with all the videos from Wolfgang Gartner‘s absolutely fucking amazing set — but man, it was so ridiculous. I know I have talked A LOT about Wolfgang this past week, especially following our exclusive interview with this man about the world-wide electro town at the very moment. And all the momentous other Wolfgang announcements released this week, including confirmation on his world-wide contract with Ultra Music & the unofficial release of his new track collabo with Deadmau5, “Animal Rights” - dropping JUST the night before he took the decks in sunny San Diego. Yes we have indeed talked about Wolfgang Gartner quite a bit this week — but when a man of his caliber, who ALSO happens to be topping the charts and electronic music news releases, makes a grand appearance in humble San Diego AT THE VERY SAME PEAKING MOMENT OF “STOP THE FUCKING PRESSES” HYSTERIA?!?!?!?!?!? — it’s impossible not to hype the guy. Simple as that.

See the HUGE video arsenal with both LA Riots‘ and Wolfgang’s massive sets after the jump! Weeeee!!!

O my goodness gracious. Treasure Fingers absolutely tore down the house this past Saturday night at Voyeur Nightclub. I have to say, I’ve seen Treasure Fingers spin live on more occasions I can even begin to count, HOWEVER, I have to say, I believe this was the BEST I have ever seen the man spin. It was one of those DJs sets that, when the lights went on at last call and the room was lit was that embarrassing, “Go home now” glow, you still felt enamored and completely fully engaged in the set — as if it didn’t matter how drunkenly torn up you looked as long. As long as that man kept spinning, the crowd packed into the dance floor didn’t even seem to miss a beat. Magical.

Treasure Fingers‘ disco-happy house fun lovin’ set, sent smiles across the faces of the entire crowd. Each and every track was even more infectious and body shakin’ than the last!.

More videos after the jump!

Damian Lazarus creates underground dance music for those with an open mind, an ear for appreciation, and the right bones in their body to move to the masterfully-constructed and groove-worthy sounds.

I have to admit, I’m about 50/50 as to whether San Diego is ready for this highly-progressive form of electronic music — but I sure as hell know tonight is NOT a night to miss for those who truly care about the electronic genre as whole, or those who simply have a way of always smiling and having a good time — because you are certainly in for an excellent evening, I can whole-heartedly assure you of that.

Years ago, and to be precise, merely three years ago, San Diego club goers rejected the sound that is now, ubiquitous throughout San Diego’s most astounding shining LED-lighted stars, the upscale nightclubs, we pack ourselves tight into, night after night; a sound that true nightlife connoisseurs fiendishly follow with ever-increasing personal interest, here and now today: HOUSE music. House, and ever-increasingly, electro, and its crowd of followers, even as much as a year ago, were no where NEAR to what that exponentially-growing crowd looks like today, here in our beloved urbanized-ish beach city of San Diego. The level of appreciation, interest, and personal taste in music locally, has drastically changed on a massive scale, from what it was years ago — same time, same place — but now, a completely evolved club scene.

And the evolution, kids, has only just begun.

Fast forward, back to the present. Today, actually TONIGHT, we have a seriously phenomenal opportunity to look and listen into the future of what our club scene will be like, hopefully a year from now — if it were only up to us — but likely a little bit longer down the line — given a particular breed of San Diegans and their adversity to change. Nonetheless, I’ve still got my fingers tightly crossed.

Damian Lazarus, is the future of San Diego’s upscale nightclub sound. And for individuals, like you, reading this right now, it will be a highly intoxicating aural experience for those who enjoy the finer things in life.

**Haunting soundscapes; deep, reverberating vocals, impeccably mastered techno-minded nuances, and a heavy, pulsating percussion in a continuous stream of spookily enchanting rhythms and vibrations: Damian Lazarus’ tech house is no doubt a sensory experience for club goers – well-versed individuals and virgins to the sound alike.**

Check out Lazarus’ recent release below off of Get Physical (Booka Shade & M.A.N.D.Y.’s Label) if you’d like a more sonically concrete idea of the magic you are in for this evening at Voyeur nightclub. The deep, almost chant-like vocals layered with the mesmerizing aural constructs Damian Lazarus masterfully and progressively builds on the continuous back-drop of alluring electronic percussion throughout the track, will translate absolutely stunningly onto Voyeur’s massive sound system tonight.

Damian Lazarus - Never-ending (Club Version)

As of recent, Damian Lazarus has finally been given the right of electronic approval to create his own sonic masterpiece within the increasingly-recognized and blossoming Fabric series. On already its 54th edition within the series itself, among former honorary recipients of this prestigious opportunity including the renowned production masterminds of Steve Bug, John Digweed, Claude VonStroke, Mark Farina, John Tejada, and M.A.N.D.Y. it’s proof that Damian Lazarus, too, is of equal caliber as those proceeding him as Fabric all-stars, within the electronic music world.

Damian Lazarus’ 21-track contribution to the Fabric series has a creepy, almost psychedelic undercurrent slinking throughout the entire score. But his impeccable implementation of capricious, sonically-interesting, tech-nuances — that are layered, or, at times, even thoughtfully scattered about the composition — attribute a certain “aurally-digestible” factor to the work as a whole; a characteristic necessary for any track to be socially approachable within any nightclub atmosphere.

Although Lazarus’ own edition to the Fabric series won’t be released until October 16th, he’s a sonic-sneak-peek of the goodness below:

Bottom Line: If it don’t make you dance, it don’t belong in the club!!

Fortunately, Damian Lazarus’ sound has transcended the usual weirdo experimental/installation music spectrum, by using his technical sensibilities, and transforming those technologically advanced/ingenious sonic demonstrations into a more dance-friendly extension of that eccentric, “mad scientist-y” realm.

Catch Damian Lazarus tonight at Voyeur, as it is a rare opportunity to have such tech-masterminds gracing our favorite clubs, and so close to home. Seriously, this not a night to miss out on.

Opening up the evening, will be close friend to TheMixster.com, and also a fellow, extremely active and passionate advocate of the tech-house genre, Jon Dadon: Founder of the DJ collective, Starry Eyed Music.
Dadon,
who takes his massive arsenal and his passion for the sound to Las Vegas with him nearly every weekend, in order to share his wealth of sonic goodness with the open-minded audiences and appreciative ears in the Sin City underground, will be here at home (FINALLY!) showcasing, his own personal take on the world of progressive tech-house. Get to Voyeur early to immerse yourself in San Diego’s very own rendition and approach to this rapidly evolving stream of sound — and to avoid cover as well.

RSVP for guest here, or simply send your list of names to Guestlist [at] StarryEyedMusic [dot] com.

The Mission has already created quite a fan base in San Diego, but if you haven’t had the privilege of chowing down at one of their three locations, then get in line.  No, literally get in line!  Every time I decide to hit up The Mission for an amazingly fulfilling breakfast it seems the rest of SD had the same idea, and got there before I did!  Regardless, a lengthy line could never keep me from what they’re cooking up inside, and fortunately it’s worth the wait every time!

You should know now that you’re not going to find the run-of-the-mill bacon and eggs on the menu.  The Mission offers over-sized classic and Latin inspired dishes full of flavor, but not full of  fat and calories.  They decided early on that food should not only be extremely tasty but surprisingly healthy. Each plate shines with vibrant colors that can only come from the freshness of ingredients.  Oh, and they also made it ridiculously affordable as well.  Giant gourmet portions all around $10 or less? Sounds good to me.

LED Presents another MASSIVE undertaking this Sunday with a party sure to cause a serious sonic riot down on the sands at the Wavehouse in Mission Beach. In this edition of RAVEhouse we have man of the moment Wolfgang Gartner, whose recent sold out AND apparently record-breaking show at the Avalon (LA) was 4,000 heads deep with heavy electro house fans and one of the most insanely packed nights the top venue has ever seen. Along with Wolfgang Gartner we have a fellow Undocumented Management duo LA Riots to tear up the stage in their usual style with dirty electro reflips and drops, lining it up and thrashing out entropy in true full form all day long.

***We don’t even want you to get to the end of the article before we warn you: BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW, because from what we’ve been hearing, this show will likely sell out before you even reach the end of this post…

Wolfgang Gartner,
born Joey Youngman, is the man of the moment in the electronic music world:

Wolfgang Gartner has been nominated for several prestigious DJ awards, his show at Avalon (LA) this past month was a massive & monumental success for the venue with over 4,000 heads deep in attendance, and his latest announcement of a highly anticipated forthcoming album, under his recently confirmed worldwide contract with renowned record label, Ultra Music, are just a few of the ever-growing list of accomplishments that have put Gartner in the electronic world’s spotlight.

On top of all that, Gartner has been recently holding down the top spot on the Beatport charts week after week, and is still holding strong with his track “Conscindo” in the top ten (at the time of writing). Simply put,  Wolfgang Gartner is sonically soaring on career Cloud 9. And Gartner has taken the joy and positive energy he has earned from his endeavors with him on tour across the country, performing at top venues and large-scale festivals, sharing the fruits of his successes with his fans.
Thanks to my bestie and East Coast counter-part, The Music Ninja, I was able to pull Wolfgang Gartner away from the celebratory momentum he’s been riding and talk with him about all the epic events he’s been playing lately and upcoming shows that he’s looking forward to, his recent collaboration with Deadmau5, and ask him to us about his true feelings in regards to the ongoing ninjas vs. unicorns debate, among many other things he graciously shared with us as well.  Check out the wisdom and intriguing insight below from the mind and mouth of the production mastermind and man of the moment himself:

Wolfgang Gartner.

Awww Skeet Skeet! Not for one second do I believe Trevor McFredries aka DJ Skeet Skeet is from Iowa! His name alone makes you cringe, laugh, and still makes you want to get krunk! Born in LA, raised in Iowa, only to return to LADJ Skeet Skeet screams less of cows and more of the wild and craziness that is his inherent backdrop and current stomping grounds of LA LA Land! Do you realize how many exclamation points I just used? That is DJ Skeet Skeet – super hyper active remixes, his own hip yet clean & sleek fashion, and a vibrant LOLable persona that we find impossible not to love.

More love for the SKEET and rad show alert info after the jump!

The sun beat down on the beaches this past Sunday afternoon yet the heat definitely didn’t seem to turn people off and away from gathering in the masses and collectively raging on the sands at the Wavehouse in Mission Beach, San Diego, for massive sets courtesy of JFK of MSTRKRFT and Bird Peterson.

The video below turned out absolutely beautifully: The sun shining against JFK’s profile, the sound of house music filling the beach air, and the lone pack of cigarettes atop the live turntable, spinning ever so in rhythm with the beat.

BOUNCE LOW! BOUNCE HIGH! ALL I DO IS PARTY Ah AH AH AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Check out tropical-tech-savvy videos from Bird Peterson after the jump!
