Great NYE house party mix courtesy of our friends of LA-based DJ duo Breakdown. I’m going to bump this in my ride up to LA on Saturday morning/afternoon/post-disco nap to see them perform along with Dada Life and a few special guests at Vanguard.

48 hour rage-fest. God help me.

It’s very clear – I’m excited by anything Dance Music-oriented to begin with. However, this party: Is going to be something really extra special.

New Year’s Eve at San Diego‘s chicest hotel, The W Hotel San Diego, is going to be one unbelievable fabulous event that is sure to woo the masses of SD’s most forward taste-makers, lively socialites, and fashionistas alike.

Along with not only 14 of San Diego’s most accomplished and universally-applauded DJ and electronic music acts on 5 different pristine dance floors and areas, 1300+ well-heeled ladies in fantastic sparkly frocks and gents dressed to impress will be dazzling the W Hotel‘s gorgeous recesses for a beautiful evening of New Year splendor.

Adding to the fantasy, the lovely ladies behind the West Coast’s premiere indie fashion-forward event, THREAD show, will be featuring exclusive fashion and lifestyle installations around the venue, inevitably producing even more all-out delight and an array of haute little surprises for attendees.

The unique and well-curated line-up of dance music and their producers are however the highlight of this ahhhhmazing event. Spotlighting San Diego’s finest on this special night and all under (or on top!) one roof – there isn’t really anything that gets my heart-fluttering with sheer delight more.

*Exclusive*, never-before-seen live videos of our DJs and their most current releases and mixes for free download after the jump:

Calling SD-based DJ Erick Diaz‘s newest release the *perfect* NYE pregame mix would be a gross understatement and more importantly, underwhelming this mix’s unabashedly lash-fluttering, electro value.

Erick Diaz
is straight-up an OG electro DJ in San Diego’s scene. Through the years and DJing literally ALL over town, from inside the indie clubs to warehouse raves to even the chicest upscale spots around San Diego’s Gaslamp, Erick Diaz has failed to disappoint, but more significantly: he has never faltered from his own personal style. Given how pushy and ignorant promoters and their legions can be at times, this is an enormous and noteworthy accomplishment. Erick Diaz has and continually proves he will always, stay true to electro and pushing the scene forward.

Although I have personally seen Erick Diaz behind the decks more times than I can shake a disco stick at, his DJ sets as of late have been fucking top notch. His supporting set for Mr. Oizo at Voyeur a few weeks back, totally stunned us all into an aural oblivion. Standing next to our dear friends Headshake and Mike Delgado (of Shark Attack) both taste-makers on opposite sides of the electro-sphere no doubt, but nonetheless I couldn’t get EITHER of them to stop just absolutely BEAMING about how stellar Erick Diaz’s set was that night. I know these boys very well, and neither of them are easily impressed. Thus this being far and away from their typical behavior, from either end, it was apparent that Erick Diaz had thrown down one remarkable set.

Thus it became and still is, clear, Erick Diaz and his consistently impeccable track selection offers so much to San Diego’s emerging dance scene and to facilitating its’ overall growth. Certainly someone you should be keeping your eye on in 2011 to continue making moves around the town.

In preparation for an unbelievable New Year’s Eve celebration ahead - at San Diego’s chicest spot under the Downtown stars, The W Hotel, Diaz has created an ultra dancey and upbeat electro mix that previews what incredible events the night will have in store for its’ attendees.

Five Dancefloors, 14 of San Diego’s BEST DJ acts and performers, 3 levels of madness and 1300+ of the city’s most beautiful and fun people, all in ONE place!!! This is a freakin’ NO BRAINER!!

So finally here’s the mix, a TheMixster.com exclusive courtesy of course of Mr. Diaz, that will get your gears really buzzing: While it isn’t your typically round-up of bangers, it certainly has a special shake-ability quality about it. Its progression moves steadily yet ferociously up a more uptempo drive and completely rears into a beast, capable of all kinds of naughty things.. At the 9:50-minute mark, my face  disembarked from my cranium and proceeded to make an absolute melty mess on my floor. Needless to say – good stuff here my friends. Whoa.

Among some of the thoughtfully-curated sounds, it’s especially Diaz’s integration of Strip Steve’s remix of  Carte Blanches Do! Do! Do! that really tickles my EDM sensories, and proceeds to control all bodily movement hence forth.  The mix very nearly culminates in a track that is perhaps one of the more salacious, and scandal-instigating sonic lures I’ve heard in quite some time. Admittedly it made even me, blush a little.
Finally climaxing with a gnarly, punchy rework of deadmau5′s SOFI needs a Ladder it’s obvious that Diaz has some very filthy beats in store for us on NYE.  If this mix is any indication of how NYE is going to go, prepare to end the night with a pleasant bang. Or two.

With beauty, bad ass beats, and inevitable dance floor promiscuity abound, NYE at the W Hotel will no doubt inevitably be an unforgettable celebration that you’ll surely not want to miss out on.

Tickets are nearly sold out (seriously!!) Buy them here before they’re *gone*

Our LA-based homies Breakdown received one pretty incredible gift for the holidays this year! Breakdown‘s remix of Daft Punk‘s “Derezzed” was featured in an official TRON movie trailer made by Disney!! Holllaaaa!

The trailer is rad and works really well with the remix, so definitely take a look: HD, full screen, volume UP.

Even more exciting is the fact that the Derezzed remix is available for free download as well – courtesy of the Breakdown boys themselves.

I can’t more enthusiastically recommend a show for you to go see TONIGHT. Daft Punk’d will be putting on an unbelievable tribute production at The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. And it will undoubtedly be one of the most aesthetically mind-numbing and of course positively exciting shows you’ve witnessed this year. Seriously.

This duo of Phoenix-based boys, DJ BenniBeatnik and producer Ron DMC, have absolutely nailed the “Daft Punk” aesthetic. With replica helmets handmade by Ron DMC (even chromed by the same establishment that finished the authentic Daft helmets) and fit with personalized light-up suits, their show is absolutely spectacular – as close to the real thing you’ll get for now. (at least until *possibly* Coachella – fingers crossed!)

Fit to intensify the production even more for your viewing pleasure will be an extra special lazer light show by Artistic Laser Productions that is bound to dazzle and delight each and every one of your senses.

Also playing with Daft Punk’d this evening will be SD’s favorite Gabe Vega, DJ Man-Cat with amazing aerial pole acrobatic artist Flying Laura, and DJ Amiks of epicNight Productions, guaranteeing a full and unforgettable evening of stunning visual and aural stimulation.

So I came across the preview of this track last week at the same time as I came across Justin Michael’s awesome fully Prog. House rework of deadmau5′s “Raise Your Weapon” . And I have since been badgering LA-based DJ/Producer off Ultra Records Justin Michael to send me this salacious little dance floor ditty.

Alongside fellow left-coaster and longtime friend DJ/Producer Kemal and featuring the misty pop vocals of Heather Bright, they’ve created another lusciously housey floor-flooder. While the original mix of Trouble spotlights Heather Bright‘s vocals a bit more fully, I just can’t deny that it’s Justin Michael & Kemal‘s “Dub Remix” of their track that really gets my EDM gears cranking.

The ‘Trouble (Dub Remix)’ is sure to fill club atmospheres across the land with bass-laden body-shuddering reverbs and undeniably addictive big room drops. And I can only begin to imagine the gratuitous festival-wide play this track will no doubt receive from the EDM sphere’s most renowned leaders in the Progressive House movement throughout 2011. I can already forsee the sea of smiles forming now…

Preview Below: Full Release out on Beatport now! Support the artists and this awesome choons please! <3

Because I know you all can’t think JingleStep is as funny as I do. Here’s for the serious carolers: Killer Christmas covers and new tunes sung some of the most gorgeous voices inside (and outside…) the indie world.

Florence & the Machine - “Last Christmas”
This cover of George Michael’s “Last Christmas” is soulful as it is melodically pristine.

Ha so it’s very apparent that Sufjan Stevens is quite the Christmas enthusiast: he’s released a Christmas EP every year for the last FIVE years (which are now available as a box set!). On BBC Radio 6, Stevens, alongside The National’s Bryce & Aaron Dessner, and Arcade Fire’s Richard Perry debuted two new Christmas jingles: A beautiful and melodically-layered rework of “Silent Night” as well as a new track called ““Barcarola (You Must Be A Christmas Tree)”.

Spank Rock + Johnny Sierra (The Death Set)-
Little Drummer Boy
Spank Rock and Johnny Sierra of The Death Set parody the supremely awkward Bing Crosby and David Bowie video – where they discuss music and Christmas and then break out into a totally weird duet version of “Little Drummer Boy“. Total crack-up haha.

Best Coast and Wavves -“Got Something for You”
Not gonna lie this is a pretty catchy little hipster ditty.

deadmau5 knows how to treat his millions upon millions of adoring fans around the holidays: by putting them all in a glee-filled holidaze - induced by his signature Progressive house entrances.

A hop and a skip before Christmas day, mau5 has bestowed upon us a seriously mental track titled “Limit Break” and nearly broke Soundcloud by doing so!

If anything, you’d think by now Soundcloud would give the person who’s the largest source for their site traffic a free Pro-account by now, right?!?! Where’s your holiday spirit (and good business sense) Soundcloud?!?!?! The “100 free downloads” on a basic account were scooped up in less than a minute when deadmau5 posted the link on his Twitter yesterday!

Well in any case, take this gift from deadmau5 today — and rave with holiday cheer.

*Yayyyyy*

Anything Bag Raiders-related deserves a big ol’smile – because that’s simply what their music induces, without fail. The Sydney-based duo consisting of members Chris Stracey and Jack Glass create the *ultimate* house music, endlessly perfect for indie dance parties and outdoor festival grounds alike.

And if their video for Sunlight, the third single off their self-titled debut album (released October 1st, 2010) doesn’t make you giggle a little when you watch it, you should probably check your pulse.

*BONUS*
Just released on December 21st, 2010 – The GLOVES remix of Sunlight — *so delightful*
