Parisian delights Jupiter are bringing back the Nu-Disco/Electro fusion-ed funk harder than ever. Very little information is known about this boy-girl duo that first made their mark on the scene back in 2008 with “Mama Used To Say” on Kitsune’s label. Their style is somewhat very similar and hearkening glistening beats of the popular French collective known as Valerie. Jupiter are known for their 80′s Synthwave signature style from such names as College, Russ Chimes, Minitel Rose, and Anoraak who have mastered the art and released worldwide pre-Nu-Disco unity. While getting the opportunity to remix their tracks in return.
Jupiter’s latest track “Vox Pupoli” chimes in at a near perfect time as electronic music has become more mellow and darker with this present music trend. With Electro-induced leads that bring a reminiscent feeling of Prince‘s classic rock style: piercing through the track like a knight in shining armour while maintaining Yelle‘s vocal like sex appeal. Lifelike was also a wise choice to have as an addition to the remixes giving it his sultry synthy sex “Treatment” that brings the original to a whole new level of chic. I for one praise Jupiter for bringing back the Electro party Funk Disco vibe which is assured to breathe new life back in to the hearts of the youth while giving a chance for new generations to experience something a bit different from what is currently happening.
Check out their brand new video for their track “Sake Bomb”! Imagine cute tipsy Frenchies playing Dance Dance Revolution on! Shake your drunken bum!
As always, enjoy!

It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard new original material from everyone’s favorite Scottish producer Calvin Harris. In 2009 he released his second album ‘Ready For The Weekend‘ which hit number one on the UK Album Charts, and most deem it to be pure brilliance: Five of fourteen original released tracks became all number one hits! In recent times Calvin Harris has been touring as a DJ rather than presenting his live performance, which thus leads most (and me) to believe that life is a lot more easier to maintain playing behind the booth rather than playing on stage. Vocals were the main focus point with his sound in times past, but are not present at all here. With his new track “Awooga” it seems as though he wants to take a different route and approach sound the way he has done so in times past; changing up the formula, and gearing his arsenal towards clubs, electronic festivals and arenas. Staying true to his DJ set delivery this is nothing short of what he loves mixed while performing: hard heavy kicks, loud Electro, and Big Room House, and Fidget are just a taste of what you get when he performs his sets. After hearing “Awooga” I’m left wondering which direction Calvin Harris will take on his new album set to drop sometime later this year. Only time will tell, but until then sink your teeth into “Awooga”.

They’re baaaaaaaack baybay!! Last week we were given the first sneak peek and a sweet free download ‘Beards Again’; and now Undocumented Management has leaked another stream of what’s to come off the upcoming MSTRKRFT LP due out later this year.
Powerful filtered organ-synths and lazer-gun samples make for an electro-house track that builds and builds – and is absolutely destined to summon an uprising in crowd-packed clubs.
MSTRKRFT – BACK IN THE USSA by Undocumented Management
I can get very used to a new MSTRKRFT track every week…
If you’ve been following my jibber-jabber on TheMixster.com Facebook Fanpage /Twitter the past 2 months (…or year) you know how I strongly I feel about New Zealand-based tropical tech/eclectic house two-piece, MayaVanya: And their enormous potential for global EDm takeover with their future-forward sounds.
Over the past year, and most especially over the past week, I have been fortunate to get to know the girls more personally (and inadvertently join them on a SD–>SF roadtrip- but that’s a whole different blog-post). However, minus any sort of personal bias: Maya and Vanya, are very talented producers that you should definitely keep on your near future break-out artist radar.
And you don’t have to take my word for it: You can ask Deadmau5′s manager, Editor of DJ Mag, Ultra Records’ David Waxman, head of Beatport.com, and one piece of Swedish House Mafia, Sebastian Ingrosso – i.e. the judges who deemed MayaVanya as the champions of Let’s Mix’s ‘Next Generation DJ’ 2010 competition — and they will tell you the same thing. And I’m pretty sure the thousands of listeners who tune into MayaVanya‘s radio show, ‘Chaga Time‘ every Tuesday from 8-10pm (which is Monday from 4pm-6pm for us in the States) on NZ’s definitive taste-making radio station/event production authority GeorgeFM would also attest to their talent and rising star potential.
I’m honestly tired of telling you how awesome MayaVanya are. Check out the videos we took of their stellar & sonically-diverse set they dropped at Voyeur Nightclub in San Diego, that includes Cumbia, tech-house, tropical-tech, and even Moombahton, and see for yourself:
More videos after the jump!!!!

A good excuse as any to go and purchase all that sexy música you’ve had festering in your crates!!! Beatport.com‘s benefit is only in effect TODAY only (March 21st) so go and empty out those shopping carts ASAP!!
Need some insight on what to buy? Here are some excellent options:
Dillon Francis – Westside! EP
Miami Noize 2011 – Boynoize Records
Mord Fustang – ‘Milky Way’
Breakage – ‘Fighting Fire (Foamo Remix)’
Kurd Maverick – ‘Warum Nisht! (Original Mix)’
Filthy Rich & Bass Kleph – ‘These Mornings (Original Mix)’
Given the title, it’s pretty self-explanatory what this piece will be about.
Awesome, French people. (No, they’re not mutually exclusive. In this case…)
And the amazing Française sounds that are coursing through the inter-webs at the moment – that NEED to be shared with the world.
It would be rude not to.
First up: The Kitsuné-signed duo Beataucue’s remix of Mad Decent‘s Depressed Buttons‘ track “Ow!” came out less than a month ago. And now even still, as soon as I hear that first filtered honky oscillation, I start to quiver with delight. It’s like a tribal-step, spaceship electro-emulsion boiling to a bubble and spitting fire onto raw skin. It burns so good. I’m fucking addicted to this track.
Depressed Buttons – Ow! (Beataucue Remix)
Look I am not going to downplay my obsession with French-speaking sweetheart Yelle: she’s going to be here in San Diego, May 20th at The Casbah! And I will have NO shame, walking straight-up to center stage, closing my eyes, and imagining her whispering something dirty to me when she’s cooing to the crowd with her sultry Française vocals. However this remix by powerhouse remixing-youngster and fellow Frenchman Madeon, takes the original track to aurally orgasmic proportions: funky basslines and room-engorging House swells with sparkly synths and heavenly reverberations, take my mind & body to new sonic heights.
Yelle – Que Veux Tu (Madeon Remix)
More about MADEON in ‘Our Intern’s Words’: “Just did some research, Madeon is SIXTEEN YEARS OLD!!!!!! what the fuck is up with this kid. Another one of his remixes showed up on GDD, one of the best (if not THE best) versions of “The Island” I’ve ever heard. We should send some military reserves over to France to make sure this little guy isn’t gonna take over the world.”
We agree with our intern. Keep an eye-out for MADEON. Can’t deny that his remixes have been so spot-on stellar!! I’d only call the troops to forge the kid a fake so we can get him inside the clubs.
Intern’s pick: Pendulum – The Island (Madeon Remix)
Meanwhile, across the pond…
Still OBSESSED: Worthy Throwback
SO UK-based up-and-coming hipster icon, TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS, isn’t from France. But I can’t even think about the word ‘obsessed’ without first having TEED come to mind. This remix has been out for nearly 6 months sure, HOWEVER, it is nearly *impossible* to find for free DL over the inter-webs, EVEN STILL. It always intrigues me when tracks are terribly hard to find – especially when it is one as good this T-E-E-D remix of Professor Green’s “Monster”. Sure it’s available on iTunes, but I’m a Beatport girl myself, so I’ll just keep waiting. Patiently.
Professor Green – Monster (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix) by T-E-E-D
This is my favorite song to belt out when I’m wasted apparently – according to numerous liars witnesses.
Katy Perry – Firework (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs)
(***Headshake also included this track in one of our previous MILKSHAKE posts so save space, don’t download it twice. Unless you want to of course.)
Dance en France baybay.
It’s quite fascinating to view an artists ascent to world notoriety, followed by a hasty propulsion back out of the limelight — in what seems a blink of an eye. MSTRKRFT had a pretty amazing run the last half of the 2000′s: life was on full-speed, and then came the disappearing act. Since their LP release “FIST OF GOD” in 2009, it has felt as if the Canadian party Electro duo fell off the face of the planet. Well…as life evolves and cycles MSTRKRFT is back! They are set to release another full length LP due out later this year and decided it would be the right moment to drop a brand new track for you to salivate on. “BEARDS AGAIN” is nothing extremely new, but most definitely nostalgic to their iconic sound. Could this be round two?
MSTRKRFT- Beards Again
Editor’s Note: I was so unbelievably fortunate to find our highly-energetic and EXTREMELY enthusiastic MIX intern, Spencer: He’s currently a student at USD (my alma mater HOLLA.) and he’s an EDM fiend (like the rest of us).
His DAILY activities, between his classes and a shocking lack of sleep, include an extensive dissection of his disturbingly-massive personal music blogroll, making a calendar of events he isn’t even old enough to go to, HUNDREDS of music downloads, obsessively studying Youtube Photoshop tutorials, and hunting down stupid cat pictures. In other words, Spencer makes a PERFECT addition to TheMixster.com team and we are absolutely delighted to have him.
Given his limitless interest, energy, and desire to be involved in the MIX, last week, I asked Spencer to simply send me a list of his top 5 tracks of the moment — so he could feel he was contributing to the site. However, upon this request Spencer gave me a bewildered look; later followed by a lengthy email with an equally-perturbing subject line: TROUBLESOME.
“Hi. I could honestly go crazy and send you like 200 tracks, and I would absolutely be in love with them all. Probably even 2000000000. Yeah, I’m in that good of a mood right now!!! You know those moods where everything sounds good? Its kinda like one of those, except that all the music sounds AMAZING. I think you should put like a limit on this thing, or else your inbox is gonna be exploding with tracks and you’ll just get really pissed at me, plus you won’t have time to listen to any of them :o yikes.”
It’s very clear: The guy REALLY LOVES electronic dance music. And/Or he’s just a crack addict in desperate need of a regular sleep schedule and a warm glass of milk.
By some sort of strange miracle/mystery sedative, we were finally able to get Spencer to focus long enough to scribble down his top tracks of the moment/night. Admittedly, the selection is somewhat bizarre at first look. However Spencer justifies them all. That is until he sent me the particular header image (see above) he wanted for the piece. He’s a very strange and interesting creature; that we absolutely cannot help but love to have as a member of our team. Enjoy, from the looks of things, the first of MANY, “Sonic Selections” — hand-chosen by our wonderfully weird intern.
“I’m not sure why I’m sending you these. Just in a good mood I guess :) Hopefully you haven’t heard all of them, though I’m sure you probably have.”
Featured on GDD in “The Return of Beyond Wonderland” article: Fucking killer.
Wolfgang Gartner – Anthology Mashup (Madeon Mash-up)
And an extra boost of Wolfgang just cause I’m stoked for [his show at The] House of Blues on the 31st! (Tickets)
MSTRKRFT – Heartbreaker (ft. John Legend) (Wolfgang Gartner Remix)
Pretty sure you (TD) posted this as a joke on FB, but I think it’s a great track regardless. “And then she starts to, ummm….”
Feed Me – Jodie
Just in case you forgot, Betatraxx used to be known as Redlight… AND HE’S PLAYING AT U-31 on April 2nd. First club experience with the fake. I think so.
(Ed’s note: LOL! TheMixster.com is hosting this event!! Check out the flyer here)
Kings of Convenience – I’d Rather Dance With You (Redlight Remix)
Originally hosted by Dani Deahl, es bien. But nothing great.
Daft Punk vs. Alex Metric – What Now Daft Punk (OrionZ Mashup)
And finally something to chill to.
The Killers – Smile Like You Mean It (Madeon Remix)

SD-based producer Bubblegum Sci Fi has released a new aural bite for us to snack on: that takes a beloved dancey pop-tart treat and gives it a thick and filth-laden dip in a rich dubstep coating; including a breakdown that makes me tingle from my sweet tooth, right down to my toes.
Bubblegum Sci Fi certainly “wastes no precious time” building up the track to salacious drills with impact – that tap the throttle to our hearts into overdrive and our feet to the floor. Luscious vocals on Lux’s original track in cahoots with Bubblegum Sci Fi’s generous additions of energetic, well-calculated oscillations, carefully-woven in, result in an indisputably fun,”crossover”-savvy über-indie EDM dance-floor-ready obsession sensation track.
Bubblegum Sci Fi’s most notable contribution to the “Teenage Crime” original is a dark yet uplifting vibe, and an undeniably body-seducing breakdown. It’s an indie-electro track with a playful naughty side; add a couple of moans and it’s right on course with any thoroughly addictive FEED ME drop. Has a serious EDM nom nom factor. Looking forward to adding this to the personal MIX music arsenal via a download version (hint hint)…
