They have arrived! Pictures from the Zeds Dead show at Red Circle on April 28th… YES! Such a sick show. If you weren’t able to make it, be sure to check out the pics to witness all the craziness. If you were able to make it, enjoy. They’re all up on the Facebook page, right huuuur.
Moombahton nation yo! And all Hail to Dave Nada the creator of such a sexy genre of booty-groovin’ sound, that is spreading faster than your last girlfriend across the world!!
This just released mini mix isn’t actually too strictly held to Moombahton. There are certainly a number of elements in this mix that lend good crossover effort to loungey house and even some airy synth action. Still slow and salacious.
Check out this groovy house live mix the lovely girls of MayaVanyaput together to open up forDeadmau5recently while he was touring through New Zealand!
It’s an eclectic assortment of sounds: rare tropical grooves and unique tribal tech house stabs are heavily represented. And there is certainly no lack of deep bass coursing through and throughout this mix. It’s an uplifting compilation that’s far from being confrontational and over-powering your soundscape. This MIX is an essential for creating that “lounge on a warm beach with your friends at dusk and sip cocktails as you watch the sun set” kinda vibe this summer.
Best part about this MIX? All the tracks are conveniently listed below separately; for the purpose of further exploration of each artist. Love that.
NOTE: Above is a photo I took of the girls while we were cruising down by the strand in my hometown of Manhattan Beach. Of course, they look super cute and hipstery, representin in their MIX sunnies!! 8)
Another fully epic show brought down to San Diego by UK dubstep phenom NERO. After selling out and packing Voyeur San Diego to the very brim this past late February, there was certainly no excuse not to reignite the bass-driven-aural magic that had been summoned before, once again – for those who had missed out the first time around.
Araabmuzik, all the way from across the mainland out of Rhode Island, commenced his set, joined by his MC on stage, and Araabmuzik proceeded to tear it up on an MPC (a beat manipulation/creation quirky keyboard-looking machine); reworking electronic hip hop beats, which I haven’t seen really since TheGaslamp Killer last dropped by the SD clubs. It was quite impressive, and unlike GLK at times, his live productions were very danceable.
As per usual, Nero opened up their set with their own absolutely massive original tune, “Guilt” – a track with an immense build-up like NO other.
My absolute FAVORITE Nero remix has to be their catchy as hell reflip of The Jets’ “Crush on You” – a track that’s unfortunately still exclusive to their most recentBBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. ***If anyone can find me a FULL 320 version of this track, I will get you a ticket to ANY upcoming show in April in San Diego. PINKY. SWEAR.
More videos of NERO at VOYEUR After the jump!! (more…)
Clap your hands, it’s time to get down and F-U-N-K-Y! Ed Banger’sBreakbot has shimmy’d this in our direction and it’s positively boogieworthy. Bright synths, plucking bass, and Ruckazoid’s neo-Michael-esque vocals make this groovy jive a stellar, beneath-the-sparkly-disco-ball-and-all-night-long little number. Wave goodbye to shufflin’ this track is ALL about the disco. Can ya dig it?

Can’t seem to stop playing this soul disco filler with an indie dance twist as of late.

YES. It has been a minute since UK-based sound dino TEED aka TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS has dropped some new original tuneage on us. This afternoon TEED presented his new single “Trouble” withAnnie Mac on BBC Radio 1: and from the looks of things, it’s the TEED we all know and love. Perhaps, maybe a bit too familiar. Really TEED doesn’t really do anything too unusual in a way: this track integrates those TEED-brand of sound bites, along with some bright and precisely mastered steel drum-ish bits to jazz it up and give his usual tune a bit of a summery pick-me-up. This will be fun to boogie to in the indie clubs this summer, no doubt about that.
Some parts of the track, just sound kind of jumbled up and confused; and some of his vocals *almost* take a near dive into a hipsterized Beach Boys/neo-Cut Copy rut. Regardless it’s still always swell to hear some fresh tuneage from mister TEED. After the 5th/6th time of listening to it, I can say it’s really starting to grow on me. High five.
Just saw the set-up for tonight for this show: Double-stacked to the ceiling speakers and an additional generator parked out front to ignite some extra aural intensity.
It’s a FREE show so if you missed PLAN B at Coachella or on Conan last night then this is NOT a night to miss.
