DUB FREQUENCY and COLOUR VISION MEDIA have combined their savvy-taste-making forces and are delighted to introduce the return of San Diego’s premiere DISCO/BOOGIE/HOUSE party.
LIPLOCK ▲ R E L A U N C H Dance Party will take place on July 1st, 2011 at its beloved new monthly home inside the Delta Room at the The House of Blues in the heart of San Diego’s vibrant Downtown area.

LA and SD namesakes have come together to celebrate this epic occasion and will be christening the decks, shining new shimmery grooves and dusting off rare disco gems. HOFF of Mobroder (the latest brainchild from himself, Blu Jemz, and Spank Rock’s Naeem Hanks) is driving down the coast with Cosmic Dan of Cosmic Kids, to join San Diego’s own stylish disco slingers and top-notch party-producing connoisseurs, Adam Salter & COLOUR VISION (of Colourvisionculture.com) to create an unforgettable evening of only the most enchanting boogie-worthy sounds. Warming up the night will be No Shirt / No Shoes residents Bixel Boys and Surf Ambassador Hendo.

LIPLOCK is a celebration of sparkly disco ball jams, sun-kissed boogie, and infectious love-at-first listen grooves. All hosted by your sunnie-clad friends at TheMixster.com and your other favorite champions of forward-sound Dub Frequency, COLOUR VISION, Strictly Social, Donut Fresh, and more!

Entry is FREE all night long with RSVP. So make your way down the stairs to House of Blues’ elusive underground entrenches of The Delta Room; just allow the sounds of exceptional neon glow to light and guide the way.

The fantastic and young French duo, Beataucue, have announced that their 3rd EP, Falcon Punch, will be released on July 4th (Beatport.com exclusive release on June 27th) off fellow Français imprint Kitsuné. Although the duo are most globally praised for their slick remixes (like this one) Falcon Punch will contain six brand new original tracks including “H.O.W.L”, a collaboration with the Japanese DJ Shinichi Osawa a.k.a Mondo Grosso.

To hold us over before we faint with anticipation, Beataucue have graciously delivered a minimix to keep our ears company in the meantime.

TheMixster.com will be lending our festival crusading skills and repping TheMusicNinja.com this weekend at ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL!!!! And we couldn’t be more delighted to hit the great EDM frontier in Vegas!! Check out our full-on preview of some of our don’t-you-fucking-DARE-miss acts and free tuneage from our top select epic artists HERE!!!

Also here are a few extra we’d like to add to the list!!

THE GLITCH MOB

This LA-based three-piece sent out a super ambiguous and equally frustrating email the other day with simply a subject line stating “We Can Make The World Stop”; the message itself contained only one photo (above) and one simple line: “July 12th”. Stuff like this gives me terrible EDM have-to-know-it-all anxiety. But knowing well the unmatched powerhouse stamina these guys have inside the studio, I’m going to assume the best and say WE HAVE A NEW GLITCH MOB ALBUM ON OUR HANDS PEEPS!!!!
And I don’t doubt that their live set at EDC will be absolutely RIDDEN with new tracks and epic new tunes. YES.
THE GLITCH MOB – Saturday 9:30-10:30pm: cosmicMEADOW

SKREAM & BENGA:
If you were present for the magnificent occasion that was MAGNETIC MAN at Coachella, and their first EVER live performance in the States, then every aural crevice inside your bass head should be quivering with sheer ecstasy at the very thought of this illustrious pair taking the stage. Two-thirds of Magnetic Man, aka Skream & Benga, will be double-dominating the EDC decks and they’ll be using every tool in their filthy bass arsenal to drive your helpless body fucking bonkers. You’d be an absolute fool to miss this experience.
SKREAM & BENGA – Friday 1:30am – 3:00am: bassPOD

BENNY BENASSI
Even I have to take a break from my beloved array of screeching growls and bit-crunching stabs. Thus I’m going to take a delightful walk, perhaps I’ll even skip over to the Kinetic Field on Saturday night to catch Benny Benassi’s set as he throws down his usual can’t-help-but-smile-while-you-boogie sets, with an über healthful abundance of new tracks from his new album ELECTROMAN out now on Ultra Records. Nothing beats seeing an EDM legend, still dominating the world with a whole new insurgence of top-notch tunes. Gotta show the pioneer some love.
BENNY BENASSI – Saturday 12:00am-1:30am: kineticFIELD

I have to stop and take a minute to highlight this dope drop I was sent the other day:

This live recording captures the first time anyone has ever put down an all Drum & Bass set at Dub Dorado.
Delano,
of DEEP and Bassdrive.com drops a well-balanced, hour-plus-long diet of highly-kinetic breakbeats while MC Ridda, also of DEEP and SDUnion, rinses the mic with slick chants throughout, ensuring that hyper-accelerated BPM-induced-energy is highly contagious at all times.

Although it may be the only, this mix is still the prime example as to why Dub Dorado should continue to book more DnB/Jungle acts. Stream and download below:

DELANO and MC RIDDA LIVE AT DUB DORADO SAN DIEGO, CA by DJ Delano

The next Dub Dorado is TONIGHT – featuring a special guest for Dub D regular, CRMNL’s bday. Last surprise guest Dub Dorado had was 12th Planet - so if I were you I wouldn’t sleep on this one. –> Guest List Here <–

The video for the single “Que Que” off of Dillon Francis“Westside! EP” came out today. And it’s, well…

LOL.

Unapologetically, MAD DECENT.

It looks like it was filmed in iChat during recess…

Keep the moombahcore and weirdness going: Check out DILLON FRANCIS at U31 on July 2nd, 2011. Hosted by TheMixster.com. (Because when’s there’s weird, we’re always there.)

*Only Love in the 92101*

If this is your first glimpse of the ‘Hood here’s a brief rundown about what this guide is all about:

“What’s Good in the ‘Hood” is a weekly webzine dedicated to San Diego’s Downtown area, including Little Italy, Gaslamp, and the East Village, and sometimes those parts just bordering. The format: A simple yet thoughtful rundown of everything in the 92101 that’s relevant or particularly noteworthy for the week. Nothing fancy-lookin’ or over-saturated with Groupons and dating hotlines. Just something that’s informative and extremely effective. All cool, but without the frills.

All collected and easily printed to be the size of just ONE 8×11 sheet of paper. (Awesome AND eco-friendly!)

It’s the perfect guide for established locals looking for a heads-up on Downtown news, choice nightlife happenings, and under-the-radar specials all around town; and it’s a  convenient cheat-sheet for those exploring our lovely city for the first time: Simply fold it up and tuck in your back-pockets – and use it to find the best experiences you won’t find on the first 5 pages of Google.

Simply Put: “What’s Good in The ‘Hood”: is everything you need, and nothing you don’t.

You will find all the links to the places, the people, and the guest lists to the events featured in this week’s WGITH listed below after the jump! (more…)
