FOR DAY ONE COACHELLA VIDEOS GO HERE.

Saturday’s line-up at Coachella didn’t really excite me much – it didn’t summon the “OMFG YES!!!!” reaction I was really hoping for. However, nonetheless there were some standout acts that played that day that are absolutely worth mentioning.

Yelle
I am absolutely head over heels for Yelle! Without a doubt Yelle put on my favorite performance on Saturday, and her set is certainly one of my top overall performances of Coachella. She’ll be back in San Diego playing at the Casbah on May 20th, and I could not stress to you more, how badly you need to be at this show! She even greeted the crowd with a hooded couture swamp-thing coat with icky seaweed-esque elements hanging down, that fortunately she later removed to reveal her skin-tight sassy red printed-leopard body suit. All eyes were MOST certainly FIXATED on Yelle after that. Her set was unbelievably fun from start to finish, but her performance of “Que Veux Tu” was positively heart-warming: as everyone crowd-wide flashed their hearts in sync with Yelle herself. And of course, once her band dropped her single “Safari Disco Club” the entire tent went totally bananas.

Empire of the Sun

I honestly I had no idea what to expect when we went to see Empire of the Sun - but I definitely didn’t expect THAT! Out of whack visuals, grandiose attire, and countless quirky dance numbers – why wasn’t Empire of the Sun on the Main stage?

What an amazing day. Coachella 2011 certainly commenced with an enormous fury of bass-ridden sound and explosive kinetic energy, a chemistry innate only to the Empire Polo Field grounds, during the most amazing hipster holiday weekend of the year.

Coachella 2011 boasted a line-up filled with notorious names within the dubstep realm, as well as acts whose names are at the top tier of the global EDM sphere.

Footage I captured from this momentous occasion concentrated mostly on acts within the Sahara, that was complete this year with an LED enchanting light installation by Muti Randolph that help create a spectacular visual and audio world – an experience unlike any other thanks to Randolph and the Creator’s Project.

12th Planet
I have come to expect a lot from 12th Planet’s performances: rambunctious crowd surfing and general stage shenanigans to a self-constructed massive soundtrack of heavy danceable bass beats and equally powerful & addictive drops. And 12th Planet certainly delivered this and then some at Coachella 2011.

Skrillex joins 12th Planet on stage to perform their track “Father Said”. And the crowd goes FUCKING NUTS.

Although I am a Skrillex fanatic, I have to say the most exciting part of 12th Planet’s set was when Little Jinder joined 12th Planet onstage to perform her track “Youth Blood” as well as debut live their new collaboration track for the massive Coachella crowd enamored by the sound.

Ever since his set at Coachella, I have unsuccessfully shaken my (renewed…) obsession for Deadmau5- The incredible lights, the deep body-engulfing sound, the debut of his robomau5 head, the absolutely perfect vibe in the Sahara tent, eyes roll back in head – you had to be there I guess.

Maybe this will help you get a better sense:

After all the chaos, the brutal sun, the endless walking, pushing, infinite lines, and the hula hoops, you realize Coachella has flown by and it’s already the last and final day of reckless dance parties, irresponsibility, and great music. And even despite the number of times you’ve said throughout the adventure “Never, NEVER again!!!” you’ve actually grown to love Coachella, and the carefree lifestyle of wandering its’ desert grounds in search of good sounds.

The 3rd and final day of Coachella did little to bring you back to center: Despite the reality of Monday morning responsibilities looming in the back of your mind, Coachella had no intention of letting anyone leave in any kind of state that remotely resembled normality. In fact, the most rave-tastic, trippy, and full-on neon-saturated acts took over the tents and stages on Sunday -during the day and at night. Reminisce, revive those consequential flashbacks, or simply gear your attention to the unrelenting chaos that took place on the last day in the desert:

Coachella Day 2 was certainly much crazier than Coachella Day 1, however everything was so much more organized than the first day that there was no way anybody walked into the festival not totally relieved, and not ready to rage- in celebration of the fact the Coachella staff finally got their shit together.
It was such an incredible day of high-energy, upbeat music: Discovering some seriously talented musicians and experiencing a whole aural explosion of fresh new sounds hotter than the desert heat and those furry boot-covered feet.

COACHELLA: The things we will go through to see great bands and hear killer music. Three-hour lines just to get IN the venue, the hot desert sun pounding on you from every direction, wasted ravers with hula hoops and furry boots, Coachella is definitely an adventure to say the very least. But despite all the obstacles through out the day, we all went for the same reason: The music. From indie, unsigned artists, to the very tippy top of the pop bandwagon, there was literally something for EVERY taste of music, dispersed throughout the desert fair grounds.

Despite the obstacles, and the infuriating places people choose to sit, we captured footage of what we considered to be the best performances at the festival: We give you a full insider’s view of what festivals flashbacks were worth the post aural & bodily trauma.
