Grey Ghost (aka DJ Anthony Ross)
Grey Ghost may be a seemingly invisible entity within the local scene, as his live appearances behind the decks are more like rare sightings in the SD realm. However, around the blogosphere, the Grey Ghost name is anything but mysterious. His remixes have been all over Beatport and his name has made significant waves across the Hypem charts. And yet in San Diego he stays hidden away, working day and night like a mad scientist in his studio, masterminding and producing what we can only guess from a few teaser tweets here and there — is going to be something REALLY BIG when it all unfolds. We don’t know what this mysterious production figure has up his sleeve just yet, however it would be best either way to check out his set this Thursday during day one of SDMTC at Float, atop the Hard Rock Hotel, so as to get an aural glimpse of what Grey Ghost has been concocting these days inside his studio haven.

Groundfloor
Without fail, Groundfloor always brings with him a positively infectious array of delightfully groove-worthy house and dance tracks. His penchant for beats that make you shake it and smile always makes it easy to guarantee that his set will boast nothing less than the most cheerful vibes bouncing thought out the room and into the hearts of each and every soul in the crowd. As far as love goes there’s certainly no shortage of love for Groundfloor around town, nor is there a lack of hearts and stars we have for him on this website! From remixing local indie band jams to summing up the spirits into full-force party mode at all of San Diego’s favorite nightlife spots, Groundfloor is undoubtedly one of San Diego’s most darling and dearly loved DJs for a reason.
COLOUR VISION
DJ COLOUR VISION lays down sets that quiver the knees of those whose hearts are instantly mesmerized by any sonic inkling of sparkling italo-disco soundscapes, glittering electronica, and airy wisps of glo-wave romanticism. Along with his groove-worthy and aurally enchanting DJ sets, COLOUR VISION also shares his passion for music by uncovering those beautiful sonic treasures — glimmering like diamonds in the rough, that are often hiding beneath the digital depths of a saturated sea of interwebs — and then he spreads his wealth, an array of shiny and fresh new sounds, to the rest of the world. Prepare your senses for a well-rounded burst of italo-disco and slightly funk-infused jams sure to warm your senses under the San Diego afternoon sunshine.
Ayla Simone
DJ Ayla Simone brings down the house with her eclectic range of beats, with unassuming ease, a serene demeanor, and fashionable sass. Popping in color head-to-toe-to-turntable, Ayla is as bold as the tracks she lays down. If you are a true enthusiast and supporter for San Diego’s indie electronic dance music scene you are not only certainly well aware of Ayla’s prominence within the realm, but you are also fully delighted by the constant sense of eclecticism in both her fashion sense and music style. Ayla infuses a range of sounds into her sets, from bounce worthy electro to the deep bass of dubstep. One important thing to take note of when you’re listening to Ayla’s groove sessions is her constant desire to push the boundary, striving somehow to breach her comfort zone by mixing several genres within keeping her own style. I’ve never witnessed a DJ like Ayla who, set after set, has kept dance lovers and fun seekers musically stimulated.
Craig Smoove
DJ Craig Smoove may be from a more underground hip hop background but beneath that shell there’s a silent killer that thrives on sounds of absolute aural filth and bust-worthy break beats. Yet it is from that very background, combined with a great appreciation for electro music, that awards Craig Smoove as the man who may just have the maddest drops in the entire city. Though you’ll find him all over the town playing an overwhelmingly wide array of dance music, it’s only at his on-the-down-low events like at Thrusters Lounge in Pacific Beach he busts out the true potential of his audio arsenal; and let’s just say — he has serious goods that would make even the well-seasoned electro heads blush a little. A heavy-loaded itinerary of upbeat indie remixes, fly underground electro beats, and a stealthily loaded canon of under-the-radar dub step, Craig is no stranger to hard and heavy, fresh sounds. And his enthusiasm for not only (almost obsessively) seeking out new music but exploring new audio facets of San Diego — is unparalleled. Week by week you can actually sense Craig Smoove’s tact and mindfulness of music actually evolving. And you’re cheerfully dancing alongside him, each and every time.
