Just in time for some Moombahton Monday lovin’, Generation Bass so generously compiled and provided a surplus of moombahton tracks for us to enjoy via MixMag, with their newest, and carefully collected compilation of emerging tracks titled: The New Wave Of Moombahton, Volume 1.
Admittedly I was a little intimidated by the colossal track listing (over 30 tunes HOLY MOLY!), but it comes to no surprise that such a massive selection would be presented when you take into consideration the exorbitant rate at which this genre is growing. While the don’s of this scene are continuously willing to collaborate with the rising stars, moombahton is consistently being re-imagined and ascending to new levels each day; keeping any successful moombah producers on their toes and on top of their game!
Leaving me with the impossible task of reviewing every single track, each a work of art in themselves, there is a pinch-sized selection I would like to shine a special light on now:
Slowing down Dskotek‘s original wobbly electro version of this track, Nom‘s remix takes us to the classical-inspired, ominous side of moombahton.
DSKOTEK – Ride Of The Valkyrie (Noms Remix)
Paul David‘s über progressive take on Red Light is a time machine that transports us into the future, where moombahton would be widespread to the masses in big room nightlife.
It’s impossible for me not to single out Cabo Blanco as he samples sections from Fulanito‘s El Cepillo, and makes it his own. Reminiscent of many backyard Latin parties, I would be awash a sea of shock if this didn’t hit hard on the dance floor!
Playing off the same electronic tip as so many progressive moombah tracks we’ve been seeing lately, Shelco Garcia sets the mood for a more diverse audience, with classic percussion builds that segue into a fuller, larger sound of a different breed. Is there such a thing as rave ready moombahton yet? Because I think Shelco may have just founded it.
SHELCO GARCIA – Party Hoppin feat Teen Wolf
Heavy hitting, and extensively doused in Latin rhythms and a vast array of percussion and bells, Modobot‘s Fabuloso is a refreshing take on tropical moombah, and a personal favorite off the compilation.
Full justice cannot be given to this compilation without downloading it in its entirety. Cop the two-sided collection HERE, and listen to the promo mix while you wait, presented by none other than our hottest mamita, ViciouzViv (another one of moombah’s talented DJ’s on the rise).
