WARNING: This post contains some VERY solid tracks!!!
Hey everyone, it’s about that time of the year. The time when everyone converges in the California desert to have the TIME OF THEIR FUCKING LIVES! Listening to some of the best musical talent in the world, all crammed into one location. Sure there’s sweat, dehydration, drugs, SUN, sunburns, + much, much more, but all these pitfalls are forgotten in the moment as thousands of fans get to stand in awe of their favorite artists. Now I know that tickets sold out extremely fast this year, but if you were lucky enough to snag one, I’ve got a little treat for you. Here’s a roundup of some of my favorite songs by the artists who were fortunate enough to grace the lineup this year. Put it on your iPod, burn some CD’s, this selection of songs is geared towards getting you STOKED for Coachella! Play it while you’re packing, play it while you’re driving there, play it while you’re camping, I don’t care. So tune in, drop out, and get your ass to Indio, this is going to be one hell of a show!
Prepare yourself. All tracks are available after the jump :)
Here’s a couple .zip’s so you don’t have to download each track individually! (Perfect for throwing on your iPod)
Now let’s get down to business.
Steve Angello
You wake up in a tent. You’re in a desert in Indio, CA. The sound of sweet, sweet music drifts towards your ears. And what song is that playing? Probably this one. For some reason this intro just seems like one of the most epic things in the world to me. And once that beat kicks in, I feel like I’m in my groove ready to get my day on. Steve Angello (from Swedish House Mafia) and the wonderfully British DJ, Alex Metric (who I have IMMENSE respect for) act as a perfect team. In fact, I think if Angello dropped this at Coachella, it would be about the most epic thing to happen. Ever.

Skrillex
Oh dubstep, what would I do without you. Skrillex will put on a good show, but be careful and do not sprain or break your neck! Moderation in head banging is the way to go. Watch out for Cat Rats, Skrillex is definitely throwing some funk your way!

Afrojack
I’ll admit I’m not the hugest fan of most of Afrojack’s songs, but a ton of them are prime for remixing. It seems like just about everyone has tried giving “Take Over Control” their own touch, and almost every single remix is inevitably killer. That’s why choosing the perfect one for this post was so difficult. Now I know that this isn’t Afrojack’s original tune, and he probably won’t play it at Coachella, but you NEED to hear it! Barletta absolutely hits the nail on the head, taking a normally sunshine happy tune and giving it a dark makeover that doesn’t really kick in until the 2:00 minute mark.

The Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77
DO NOT do drugs during this show. YOU WILL HAVE A HEART ATTACK! I guarantee it. Everyone knows that The Bloody Beetroots bring insanely powerful energy all the way from Italy, so if at any time you feel like Coachella is just dragging on, get your heartbeat up by watching these mysterious masked men.
Crookers – Il Brutto (Bloody Beetroots Il Bruttissimo Remix)

Believe it or not, The Bloody Beetroots actually do have a soft side. And I’m digging it. A LOT.

Crystal Castles
How long have Crystal Castles been on tour??? Jesus it feels like forever. But that’s no reason to skip out on their performance. Although some people may write off their music as too much techno, or too “out there”, in my opinion they never fail to produce absolutely amazing music. Just like The Bloody Beetroots, choosing the right songs to post on here was a very difficult decision. But I think these are two suitable tracks. Oh and if you’re driving while you’re listening to the first one, do not get a speeding ticket. Just saying.

Kele
While I don’t know too many of Kele’s songs (I’m sure many of you don’t even know who he is), I would watch him perform at Coachella just in the hopes that he would play Tenderoni. FYI, he’s the lead vocalist of Bloc Party. Looooove this song! Especially a minute and a half into it, when every layer within the song just skyrockets to another level. Bliss.

Magnetic Man
Magnetic Man is a trio made up of Benga, Artist, and of course, my favorite Skream (which is why I couldn’t resist throwing on my all time favorite Skream track). Need I say more?

Monarchy
Relatively new to the EDM scene, Monarchy is a wonderful little British due. That’s about all I know!

I always find myself feeling dirty when I listen to this song. Almost like I’m not supposed to like it or something? I think it just sounds super mainstream to me, although I totally respect Monarchy, I can’t figure this one out. Definitely a catchy tune.

Two Door Cinema Club
If you need a break from all the EDM, Two Door Cinema Club is THE place to go for some boogie-worthy alternative rock with an electronic twist.

Ellie Goulding
That voice. I still can’t get over it. It’s no secret, I have a major crush on Ellie Goulding. That being said, her music has made such a huge impact on EDM, attracting the attention of artists such as Jakwob, Alan Braxe, Russ Chimes, Penguin Prison, and Bassnectar. WOW, did you get that? If you can receive the attention of those artists, you deserve an award. Or a promotion or something. See her! Please, please, please, I’m begging you not to miss this one!

12th Planet
12th Planet performed at Dub Dorado here in San Diego in March, and he was on fire! I would HIGHLY recommend seeing him at Coachella, even if he may not have as many followers as the bigger artists. He should.

Collaborations Between Artists Attending Coachella
While these artists probably won’t be hitting the stage together during the festival, their collaborations definitely deserve some recognition. Without further adieu, this is what teamwork gives you.

After writing this post and listening to all these wonderful songs, I can’t help but to feel a huge surge of jealousy. Unfortunately I didn’t buy a Coachella ticket in time, so I’ll have to wait until next year. But you know what this means right? All you lucky people with those coveted wristbands better live it up!!! And please, give me your reports on how all the insanity went down :)
