BAJATON™ & TheMixster.com are joining forces with the bass-centric powerhouse labels of the industry and native to the Southwest: ULTRAGORE Recordings, El Cuco Recordings, Rogue Dubs, and ELK BEATS and making our robust presence, with the launch of ¡BURQUETON! in the heart of the Southwest tomorrow night at the Moonlight Lounge, in none other than Albuquerque, New Mexico!!
¡¡Ay ay ay!!
•••• ABOUT BURQUETON ••••
We’re bringing the tropical weirdness and luscious groove of SD homegrown’s ¡BAJATON! party to the Southwest: to the outstanding and apparently, bass-fiending city of ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO. And we’re downright delighted to be the newest members of the BURQUE BASS MOVEMENT! The tremendous overflow of local love the community of EDM lovers in ABQ has for their emerging underground dance scene has inspired us to team up with the best of the West has to offer and join forces with ULTRAGORE Recordings, El Cuco Recordings, Rogue Dubs, and ELK BEATS to help put on this event. I can’t imagine many of you reading this article right now are actually sitting somewhere with 300 miles of New Mexico, however we are excited to take our tiny tropical party to as many places as possible and with hope, make the beating thump of our ginormous BAJA-lovin hearts, grow and grow; so we can share our love for sunshiny grooves with all!
We are both honored to be involved and so excited to help our BURQUE -based compadres launch off the very first installment of what we hope will be many more amazing and talent-laden BURQUETONs to come!
•••• THE LINE-UP ••••
The BURQUETON bass fam has put together a *STELLAR* cast of top-notch selectas that they are delighted to showcase and that we are most eager to experience:
Taking over the top spot for the night will be El Cuco Recordings and Arizonaton frontman MENDEZ, who no doubt will throw down an unrelenting crate of searing Moombahcore originals and salacious floorfillers.
This native Puerto Rican now based in Phoenix AZ, is best known for promoting Bad Taste Recordings and mixing the USA version of Bad Taste vol 1. Member of the live dubstep project “The End is Part of the Dance.” However currently and for the last 2 years, his heart and soul has been invested in the capricious and ever-developing Moombahton movement. Mendez has been producing originals and remixes to much success, receiving nods of support from David Heartbreak, Munchi, Dave Nada, Blokhe4d, Wizard Sleeve, just to name a few. His upcoming ‘core mixes have been quoted as the “#1 and #2 biggest forthcoming Moombahcore tunes”: drops that will surely strike down upon unsuspecting revelers with all-infectious delirium and bass-curdling fury.
Next up on the line-up will be DON VALDEZ who’s forthcoming EP “Cera Caliente” off Rot10 Musik dropping this coming Friday promises to deliver what is arguably set to become the year’s anthem of the moombah realm, along with a grip of exclusive remixes and impressive originals. His debut DON VALDEZ MIX (which premiered exclusively on TheMixster.com!) was even featured recently on Moombahton.com by the moombah realm’s most prestigious OG and universally-recognized journalist, Marcus Dowling.
Don Valdez’s live sets combine an aurally intriguing combination of his own moombahton tunes and a special crate of rare originals, that reflect his own self-mastered invention within the realm of Latin-founded sound, he refers to as “Tijuana Bass.” Under his own independent label, Elk Beats, Don Valdez produces impeccably well-crafted bass-laden tunes, with absolutely sinister intentions for all frisky Latinas and those heavily imbibed in debaucherous revelry alike.
Next up is ULTRAGORE‘s head honcho, Carlos Zentella, better known as Lank, has been a driving force in the breaks and bass music scenes across the Southwest corner of the US for over a decade. This San Diego native came on the scene in 1997 with a blistering attack of electro breakbeats, drum & bass, and eventually dubstep. Most recently landing in New Mexico, he has been working both as a promoter and artist, yet has remained the fine, stand-up guy this high-energy, Sunshine State kid has always been. Lank has built a reputable following in the southwest of America with unparalleled dance floor control, impeccable taste, and an ear for the underground.
Burqueton sees Lank bringing forth a blend of tropical and southwest-flavored house, midtempo, as well as a few special surprises.
Opening up the evening in the most charismatic and engaging of ways, will be Rogue Dubs‘ SEBBY FRESCOE:
Sebby Frescoe crosses genres and cultures to create mutant hybrid bass music. He derives his low endinfused flavor from a wide spectrum of reverberating sounds and influences. Echoes of dub, jungle, hip hop, techno and a vast array of traditional and non-traditional music resonate throughout his sonic landscape. Earth-shaking, dance floor moving riddims and atmospheric sub-bass minimalism fuse with organic instrumentation and crisp synthetic frequencies to define Sebby Frescoe’s unique and exciting sound.
