The Headtron duo, Swordfight (Chris B. + Sugarpill), is back at it once again. This time they fused their silky smooth flavor of west coast bass with the country swag of the uuuundisputed hip hop champion of the “Dirty South”……Big K.R.I.T. As I was preparing to see Big K.R.I.T. live at Porters Pub (UCSD), this track popped up on my Soundcloud dashboard. I instantly gravitated to this tune. It was the perfect pre-concert tune to get me hyped on Big K.R.I.T. while still getting my necessary dose of Headtron in my life. This song is by no means a riot-starting banger, but it has its place in everyone’s iTunes. Suave drum-work, infectious basslines, and K.R.I.T’s fire flame on the mic translate to pure audible gold. Chris B. and Sugarpill haven’t released much under their side project Swordfight to this date, but it’s safe to expect more banging tunes incorporating a wide range of styles.
I took this short video at the Big K.R.I.T. show at Porters Pub on the UCSD campus–one of many stops on his ‘Live From The Underground Tour‘ showcasing his debut album that dropped in June. This is a clip of him rapping the first verse of “Live from the Underground.”
