Neighborhood is a perfect fusion of tastes for hipster foodies, business people, and ball fans alike. With an every-changing range of beers on tap, not to mention the overwhelming number of beers by the bottle, it is no wonder that beer conessoiurs from all walks of life call Neighborhood their casual cool commonplace. It’s close proximity to Petco, The Convention Center,  & the Gaslamp make it a conveniently central stop for Downtown cruisers.

Neighborhood’s menu offers eclectic and organic gastro-pub offerings that help to soak up the suds and actually pair really nicely with the brews. Smugly yet in an honorable way Neighborhood has prided itself on never allowing a bottle of ketchup to pass through it’s doors. (Applause from this corner!!)

A personal favorite of mine are the fennel frites: topped with Fennel Pollen and White Balsamic Syrup and served with a garlic aioli for dipping- like fancy more flavorful onions rings. The Jalapeño Mac & Cheese brings me a teary sense of nostalgia, or maybe that’s just from the spicy kick – either way this is a great hangover helper. The chicken nuggets are awesome for sharing with a big group – and come with 3 delectable dipping sauces. A house favorite is The Neighborhood Burger – served on a fresh artisan roll, caramelized onions, blue gruyere, and pepper greens- order a side of the sweet potato fries if you plan to do this dish right!

For my veggies, the Apple Wallie- a Granny Apple bisect with a cumin mayo emulsion, smoked pecans, wild arugula, and topped with dried cranberries is delish! Or the Black Bean Burger patty served with crispy leeks, smoked paprika portobello, swiss cheese, cumin mayo, and pickled yellow chili is a must try for bigger appetites.

Along with their overwhelming beer selection – they offer a great selection of wines by the glass, and many by the bottle. All the bottles are at more or less pretty reasonable prices points- on Wednesday nights every bottle is slashed half off for you to enjoy the finer things if you so do wish!

Best way to keep up with what’s on tap at Neighborhood is to check out their blog, or follow them on Twitter for Breaking Brew news!

Not a big beer fan? Sneak through the back of Neighborhood at night- push what seems like a towering wall of kegs- and explore The Noble Experiment – East Village’s new “speak easy” serving up delicious hand-crafted classic cocktails, minus the passwords, pretension, and the pasé.
