NEW JAMIROQUAI: WHITE KNUCKLE RIDE Release & Remixes

Among the many names in pop from the past that are staging a comeback with new releases (i.e. Chemical Brothers, Scissor Sisters etc.) , Grammy award winning Acid Jazz artist Jamiroquai may deliver one of the most surprising and under-hyped EP’s of them all…

Best known for their major international hit in the 90′s,Virtual Insanity Jamiroquai has released a total of five additional LPs since their creation in 1992, and have steadily toured around the world since breaking into the pop charts. What first began as an über 90′s Acid jazz group, lead vocalist and songwriter Jay Kay has pushed the barriers of the group’s sound and has created albums in the Pop, Rock, and the Electronica genres, with their newest EP set for release November 1st, 2010ROCK DUST LIGHT STAR takes on a more live band feel and a sense of performance which has breathed new life into the group.

“White Knuckle Ride” – Jamiroquai

White Knuckle Ride, the first single to be released from album has already been creating huge buzz on the internet, and has grabbed the attention of DJs from the past and today with it’s innovative yet nostalgic 90′s feel, nu-disco updates, and undeniable funk power. The track, which is described as a look back through Jamiroquai’s music career, has clear 70′s disco funk influences, blended with french house synths and production value that only comes with years of experience and style, while Jay Kay’s distinct vocal presence  and style elevates the song to an instant classic.

“White Knuckle Ride (Penguin Prison Remix)” – Jamiroquai

One of the more exciting things about the White Knuckle Ride release is the extremely relevant remix package that was put together to accompany it. Penguin Prison, one of the most talked about Nu-Disco Producers and remixers from the past few months delivers an infectious remix that is perfectly suited for the car, or a sweaty dance floor packed with driving hi-hats, and violin stabs. The remix seriously elevates the track in the nu-disco realm and I wouldn’t be surprised if you begin to hear it around town, or being dropped dropped by some of the bigger names in the genre, in the very near future.

“White Knuckle Ride (Alan Braxe Remix)” – Jamiroquai

Upon first listen to White Knuckle Ride, the distinct French House synth lines, and dreamy ambiance immediately drew references to Alan Braxe and Fred Falke circa 2008, and luckily the genius who put together this little pack thought so too. THE French House master and pioneer himself, Alan Braxe (Vulture Records) delivers a glimmering remix worthy of the balmiest summer night disco and trades in the original’s funk, for a more refined rhythm that lures you into the deep groove.

“White Knuckle Ride (Seamus Haji Remix)” – Jamiroquai

Another throwback remix comes courtesy of Seamus Haji, a UK producer that has been churning out hit songs under multiple ‘guises since 2004 with his first huge hit “Last Night A DJ Saved My Life” that was later re-rubbed by DCUP (here). His take on the single is a little more club ready with heavy sweeps and big room vibe that perfectly suits the vocals floating around above your head. Although not quite my cup of tea, his version is actually an extremely clean production that I can imagine catching on with that set of DJs.

Keep your eyes on Jamiroquai’s massive comeback, and for ROCK DUST LIGHT STAR to make an impressive impact on the charts November 1st.. or you can pre-order it from Amazon HERE.
