Ed Banger. You have done it again you dirty scoundrel. You made me fall in love, all fucking over again.
But this time, it’s not with luscious disco. Nor is it with French house.
No, this time: it’s TECHNO.
All I can say is WOW.
I cannot more enthusiastically praise my favorite Beatport purchase this month – “Let The Children Techno” – the latest compilation from France’s legendary taste-evolving label ED BANGER RECORDS.
ED Banger and its legion of phenomenally talented artists have invited a few equally forward-savvy friends to join forces with them -and change the game of EDM, all over again.
Future-forward in the minds of the ED BANGER is the age of techno taking over the EDM soundscape: where indie-dance club music undergoes a tech-driven evolution with Ed Banger All-Stars including Busy P, Mr. Oizo, SebastiAn, DJ Mehdi, Feadz, Breakbot at the wheel of their techno-time machine.
Although I’d personally recommend buying the whole release without question, here are a few track highlights worthy of particular note.
Idiot – Siriuismo - Almost a ‘hyphy’ rhythm… Think Moombahton gone techno.

Shades of Black – Breakbot
I have been looking forward to the release of this since I treated my little ears to a listen of the preview the day it came out. And Breakbot, has delivered a sassy slice of funky heaven, once again.

The Voice (Original Mix) – Gesaffelstein – Underground SF-techno-minded griminess with eerie builds and an evil-ish Euro-garage twist.

Relax (Original Mix) – Zombie Nation - One of top favorite tracks off the compilation comes from Zombie Nation simply because of it’s refusal to stay within the frame of a single classification. It’s nu-disco a la ‘CLASSIXX’ samples at times, then it’s funky and progressive on a different transition, and then transforms into drones with tech house gutter bass and airy synth filters. Definitely commands your aural interest from start to finish.

Control (Original Mix) – Bobmo – Probably the greatest indicator of French House influence comes from Bobmo’s “Control”. An electro foundation takes lead with monotonous piano key synths and is chopped up with splices of vocals and sonic bursts.
Ed Banger can techno the fucking shit out of me all night long if this is what their tech-sauce stroke feels like. Dark, mysterious, borderline creepy, but unexpectedly funky when it’s time to crack a lil’ smile – it’s exactly the way I like my men, and apparently it’s precisely the way I like my flavor of techno as well.
