PART ONE: Countdown to EDC — OUR Official Roadtrip MIX

Scrolling through Facebook Feed in the most casual, and unassuming way, I came across this sonic treasure. I’ve found the PERFECT mixtape: Guaranteed to get you fired up for the madness and electro-centric mania that is Electric Daisy Carnival.

For San Diegans, especially, this baby is GOLD: This particular mix is THREE HOURS LONG: Long enough to get you through the traffic up to L.A. from SD, and through to the wait to find parking at the renowned horrendous parking structure that is the LA Memorial Coliseum & Exposition Park, this year’s venue for the festivities. This EDC mix features about 70-80% tracks/remixes that are relatively new (2-3 months since their release) and features ONLY those artists that will be performing and throwing down filthy little numbers at this year’s EDC. Download the MIX for free and catch our special announcement, after the JUMP!

It also happens to include a track listing which is always a great companion for any new electronica fiend still trying to wrap their head around some new artists and the array of galvanizing sounds that will soon consume them. For newbies and seasoned electro aficionados alike, this mix provides a great summation of “What’s New in Tech Soundsphere“: Giving you a clear idea of those sounds that really catch your ear and those artists who are currently pulling out fresh goods – so that you can strategically map out your big night moves.

The mix was produced by Sacramento-based DJ K Sonic, who clearly has his aural radar set to Dutch House and Progressive electro-tech. However, more uniquely, K Sonic has a particular penchant for all things Drum ‘n’ Bass, which we surely get a little taste of at the end of his mix. But these tracks he included at the tail end of the mix are of the much sweeter, less jungle-y, sort: Making for several highly digable and even approachable breaks.
For those typically DnB phobic, these highly kinetic little kickers actually culminate the mix in a nice way, that doesn’t follow suit with the norm of concluding with “One More Time” or Mason’s “Exceeder” track. And being that I’ve always been a HUGE Claude VonStroke fan, I can really see no wrong concluding this thoroughly awesome mix with one of Dirty Bird’s dark little hyperactive space cadet tracks.

More about K Sonic:
K Sonic
is based in Sacramento. And despite the fact he’s rather new to the local DJ scene, he’s already landed residency at a local sushi place called Tokyo Fro‘s. Otherwise you can find K Sonic circuiting local clubs and throwing down cranking progressive house sets at raves and other Nor Cal festivals fit for the occasion. He also broadcasts his live mixes every-s0-often so I’m sure closer to EDC you’ll surely be hearing more of him across the inter-web radio-waves! Check back here for next-up K Sonic sounds. If you dig the mix as much as we do, tell him so here and fan him on Facebook, as a kudos for producing such a killer soundtrack. A curation of aural goodness that will gear us up for the mayhem, and, following the chaos, bring us to reminisce the insanity that is and will be Electric Daisy Carnival.
