RADIUS FESTIVAL took place this past weekend inside San Diego’s historic AEROSPACE MUSEUM. And the atmosphere turned out to be more captivating than anyone could have anticipated. It felt as though despite the countless towering LED screens, blaring sound system, multiple platforms and of course the masses of raving people, our massive festival could not disrupt the sanctity of the artifacts and massive aero-structures inside the space. Enormous relics hung above the crowds that were centered around the beautiful glowing fountain main stage platforms. Exhibits remained open throughout the evening, with LED light gleams illuminating the already striking array of collections.
The Aerospace Museum itself didn’t add anything to RADIUS. The Aerospace Museum was RADIUS: An impossible to duplicate and uniquely San Diego experience celebrating music across the entire EDM spectrum, that took place at the very epicenter of our city.
However the venue was but one of the most fascinating and unique aspects of the entire festival. The line-up – spread across two separate days of night-long reveling was another recognizably striking factor of the event: the intentionally unparalleled assortment of DJs and producers with sounds spanning across multiple EDM genres denoted an additionally rare trait to the event. From legendary talent to heavily sought-out emerging talent worthy of feature, RADIUS didn’t simply produce a show lacking a typically trendy line-up, but it strove to present a variety of names that, at a glance, wouldn’t necessarily complement one-another. Yet somehow, when all was set in motion, seemed to come together with near perfect synergy.
It’s one thing to say San Diego has an ever-burgeoning EDM scene. It’s an entirely different thing to say San Diego has RADIUS FESTIVAL: its own Electronic Dance Music event, featuring talent across the global map and summoning THOUSANDS together to celebrate EDM, all under one roof.
So we went through our massive collection of footage from Night One of RADIUS FESTIVAL and we’ve come up with the best of the bunch: The most interesting, exciting, and positively fun moments and stellar performances from RADIUS 2011:
All the videos after the jump!!!!!!
One performance I was personally anxious to see live was by none other than Miami’s up-and-coming EDM prodigy, Van Toth. Bringing to the decks not only countless of his own originals, remixes, mash-ups, this 20-year-old phenom certainly tore RADIUS’ soundsphere a new one: dropping his tribal electro house with a luscious dose of tech that caused the crowds to rave in full form.
It was difficult to choose just one video from Van Toth’s performance. So we decided to include just one more. Because it would be rude not to share our footage from his stellar live set with you.
For ALL our RADIUS footage please check out our VIMEO for the full collection which will be uploaded over the next couple of days (it takes time to do these things…)
NIGHT TWO Footage & our PHOTO GALLERY are in the cue and will be up shortly – stay chooned!
