Saturday, May 22nd: Event Guide

It’s Saturday night, and it’s time to get your thrill on. Here’s what I compiled: An art & music showcase at a chicy salon in the Barrio, promises of free CDs to lure you in early and two electronic indie dance parties with enough talent to keep you bumpin’ til very very late, and I promise, the fucking wildest book reading party at a vegetarian Mexican eatery you have EVER been to. Seriously.

The Frail, Aerodrone, Gaux Nu Vaux, Office Twins, COLOUR VISION @ Beauty Bar

If indie-electronica tickles you pink and gives you chills in all the right places, then this line-up at Beauty Bar this Saturday night will make you positively weak in the knees. The Frail will be making their way from the Bay area and be bringing with them pop electronica  that is sure to cause a glee-filled melee on the dance floor. Aerodrone will also be pumping out some get down and funky electro pop rock along with The Office Twins and COLOUR VISION on the decks. Gaux Nu Vaux, the dual talented endeavors of Dan Merino and Melissa Moorcroft, who are also quite possibly the cutest couple in San Diego, will be playing their infectious array of electro pop tracks sure to switch your gears straight into boogie mode. Gaux Nu Vaux will also be celebrating the release of their new EP so come get positively jiggy and get your hot little hands on a copy.

$2 Tallboy PBR all night long and $5 cover before 10PM

Bastard Noise @ Pokez Mexican Restaurant w/ Live reading by Justin Pearson

Justin Pearson… What can I say? I love this guy. Unbelievably talented- in an assortment of eccentrically turbulent ways… He’s the lead singer of All Leather (Dim Mak), he has a remarkable, and enviable, ability to deep throat a microphone, and he gave the finger to the Bloody Beetroots during their last performance in San Diego at The House of Blues: Thus, Pearson is infamous for many reasons, and there’s one more to add to the already hefty list: An accomplished writer. Celebrating the release of his new book From the Graveyard of the Arousal Industry,” Pearson will be doing a special reading from the book, along with an agreeably fitting performance by Bastard Noise, a gritty, hardcore space-electronic infusion of aural chaos, in between. All under the roof of an artistically hodge podge-y Mexican restaurant owned and run by hardcore vegetarian punksters, I am 100% confident that this will be the most exciting fucking book reading you will ever EVER go. Think story time on a rotten ether binge and “waving a razor-sharp hunting knife in your eye.” Should be memorable to say the very least.
Event starts at 7PM.
