Sunday April 11th: THREAD show + Pre & After Party Plans!

Slip on your stilettos — or better yet, your sparkly TOMS — because 2010’s biannual THREAD Show is hitting Horton Plaza for an unbelievably dazzling line-up of this Spring’s freshest, flirtiest and fabbest indie fashion and designs. Never been? THREAD is an all-day retail wonderland coming to life on Sunday, April 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., showcasing the best emerging artists to over 2,000 lucky trendsetters. Be sure to RSVP and come early — the venue fills up fast with fashion-forward shoppers, looking to snag first dibs on seasonal gems and shake their hips to the stylings of local DJs.

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill mall experience. Designers draw from global catwalks to offer where-on-earth-did-you-get-that couture, for, in most cases, prices closer to Forever 21 than Fendi. Over the past five years, THREAD’s been assembling only the most delectable local brands in San Diego. Your roommate will drop dead with envy when you show her the outrageous hand-screened neon prints you scored from Sezio; that floral wrap-dress from Babykakes from LA; those pin-up girl bikinis from Fables by Barrie; or, oh yeah, a pair of vintage riding boots from Hunt & Gather — there are around 30 brands this season, and the list is still growing!

But aside from its infinite racks of adorable attire, THREAD offers a treasure chests of shiny, handcrafted accessories — like Holly Lauren’s boho-glam jewelry and La Chica Chic’s Brazilian shoes — made from organic and recycled materials. This year, the show’s expanded to include housewares, as well –so you can a little urban chic not only to your closet but to your pad as well! Nest Vintage Home boasts eco-friendly furniture and an eclectic inventory ranging from retro to space-age design. If you need a break from browsing  through all the pretty things, head over to the beauty booths — Mind Body Partnerships provide massages and med-spa treatments. And don’t forget to be on the look out for sweet hand-outs along the way (last year, there were free wine tastings courtesy of Vin de Syrah - cheers)!

Get there early!!! Free goodie bags for the first 250 shoppers inside the door – including hosted SVEDKA cocktails. Goodie bags that contain free cocktails?! How did they know that was EXACTLY what we wanted?

On Sunday, the fun doesn’t end at 5 p.m., though (who do you think we are?!)! Sport your new hot little number and head over to our own little Open House/Thread Show after-party at FIREHOUSE. Ready to slay the 1s and 2s are, rumored scratch master, DJ Crif Bowles and, along with, one of TheMixster.com’s personal favs, DJ Craig Smoovewho’s aviator-clad and ready to throw down some grimy and gritty electro beats sure to make a disco-dub mess on the dance floor. Yeyyyaaa!

Anxious to get your THREAD on early?!

Those in the know will attend the pre-game party on Saturday, April 10 at the W Hotel. Buddy Akai, DJ Memo RX, DJ Ayla Simone and DJ Dub Chops will be throwing down on the decks – while a gorgeous gathering of THREAD models and socialites will be taking advantage of the SVEDKA-hosted bar from 9 to 10 p.m. Send requests to vip@tkent.com to get on the guest list – you don’t want to miss out on the festivities!

***VERY IMPORTANT PARKING TIPS!!!!***:
Horton Plaza offers 3 hours of free parking with VALIDATION while shopping at the MALL. Instead of paying $8 an hour to park (Ew, right?!) go find one of the validation machines in the mall area and get that all that sorted.

Extra Fun MIX Fact: TheMixster is actually ON the official THREAD show flyer! (Second photo from left; or below…) Do you see her? She’s hiding…
