Seasons are changing and San Diego weather is as unpredictable as ever. Unlike New York, who just recently celebrated Fashion Week, we won’t know if we can snuggle up in warm knits yet or don our floral summer dresses a little longer (stripped and screen printed tanks for you men). Despite the fickleness of the cosmos, we here The Mixster want you to be stylishly prepared – and what better way than to hit up an event that supports creativity and local independent fashion designers? Did I mention that there will be food, music, and booze there too!? Yep, we’re sold too.

The bi-annual THREAD show returns in true pop-up style to Horton Plaza on Sunday, September 26th and it is not one to be missed! If you thought this past spring’s THREAD show was awesome, be prepared to have your mind and all five senses explode!
If you’ve been to THREAD Show, then you’re already familiar with their set-up of a day filled with fashion shows and demonstrations, independent fashion and shopping, and of course – live music. But new to THREAD show will be a new concept called NOSH, a tasting experience that goes hand in hand with the rigors of extreme shopping! In keeping with the theme of supporting all things local, NOSH will be a chance for you to try out cuisine from several San Diego restaurants.
A few sneak peeks of our favorite exhibitors, details and more after the jump!

For Love & Lemons
Gillian Mahin and Laura Hall may describe themselves as “up and coming” – but their designs show no sign of this at all! Known for their perfect layering pieces, party dresses and unique leggings, For Love & Lemons takes it up several notches with their Fall/Winter collection that is absolutely to die for! Inspired by film Noir, the fashion duo’s collection is filled with dark and sultry pieces mixed with modern flare: faux fur stoles, body con cut-out dresses, leggings masked as thigh-highs held up by garters.

Garden Party
Garden Party is couture at it’s best, and the mastermind behind the label is a lovely young student named Eleonore Santos. With impeccable tailoring skills and inspiration drawn from all things vintage and whimsical, Eleonore creates unique pieces that are perfect for tea parties, prom, or even a romp in the park. Her Fall collection looks like a dreamy take on Alice in Wonderland: in the City. If Alice were to walk the streets of Manhattan, I am sure she would be draped in one of Garden Party‘s flirty dresses or rompers.
A few of our other favs: Luscious baubles for the everyday and the lux life by Double Happiness Jewelry, live-screen printing tees by local artist collective Sezio, pretty much any and all things from the Aqua Rocks jewelry collection by Liz Larios, chicy corset rings by Jeweliany, probably the sassiest swimwear line we’ve ever seen by Owlchemy Society, and so many more things we cannot wait to see, and of course snatch up at THREAD show on Sunday, September 26th.

New to THREAD: NOSH

Along with the pop-up shopping mall we’ve come to know and love as THREAD show, this fall edition of THREAD will boast a new and boundlessly delicious 15,000 sq. ft. addition to this already expansive array of offerings. NOSH is an event concept featuring our very own local restaurants selling sample-sized portions for $1 – $3, as well as small plates. We will have details for you soon about those particular restaurants participating in the festivities but in the meantime, get your appetites wet for all this tantalizing goodness to come.

Our friends at Art Kills Artists will also be setting up a whole aesthetic slew of visual delights as well as doing a live art display throughout the day as well!
The Art Kills Artists showcase will feature artists:
Briana Sargent
Monty Montgomery
Crystal Powell
Zachary Wilkie
Jfeather
Michael “Monstrinho” Amorillo
Christy Pepper Dawson

The live mural design will be forefronted by jfeather and Michael “Monstrinho” Amorillo.
