Tres Terrifique – Urban Art Weekend Guide

It’s a new year. Let’s make a resolution together. Resolve to get out on the town and soak up all the art, design and cultural fabulousness that San Diego has to offer. Every day, every weekend. Promise me. If you have to work, just don’t go! It will be totally worth it, and I’m sure your boss will understand your need for personal cultural cultivation. Through this process, you will become so sophisticated and learn-ed that even being unemployed won’t be able to stop you. Doesn’t that sound like a great way to spend 2011? Good, now that we’ve gotten that resolved – onto the list!

1. Kettner Nights | Little Italy North | Friday, January 14 | 6–9pm

One of the best excuses to wander the streets at night I can think of! Little Italy North is the place to be for art & design and food & wine, and Friday is the time to be there for Kettner Nights. Come on down (or up) to explore Mixture, JETT Gallery, Klassik Mid-Century Modern and more as galleries and shops stay open late on Kettner and India from Grape to Laurel.

2. Friends of San Diego Architecture Lecture Series presents Mike Burnett | Held at NewSchool of Architecture & Design | 1249 F St. | Saturday, January 15 | 9:30am

Get out of bed, get your coffee, and get Saturday going by getting smart with Mike Burnett (pictured, right) of FoundationForForm Architecture & Planning. Named the 2010 Young Architect of the Year by the American Institute of Architects San Diego Chapter, Burnett speaks about “The Architect as Developer” at the NewSchool of Architecture & Design. Change the way you look at your city, as he discusses his commitment to the issues of city redevelopment, architecture and urban design.

3. Phonography | Opening Reception | Blind Lady Ale House | 3416 Adams Ave. | Monday, January 17 | 7-11pm
