February isn’t over yet! Check out these upcoming electro events that will round off your month just right: HUMPNIGHT; LE CASTLE VANIA; FALLING WHISTLES W/TURBO TEEN; STEVE ANGELLO; CALVIN HARRIS.
2/17 HUMPNIGHT-AC Lounge
I am a huge sucker for enthusiasm & love for electro music: and HUMPNIGHT seems to have A LOT of electro enthusiasts. Everyone I have talked to that went to the last HUMPNIGHT had nothing but awesome things to say about the night: May just have to indulge myself with a little HUMP action as well…
DJs Ian Dunn, Moniq, HeadShake, & Nathan Trujillo will be spinning across the electronic spectrum: From electro house to dubstep to drum n’ bass, it seems like a recipe for quite a wacky night.
There’s also going to be a “special underground electro-funk appearance by FUNKY AZN.” Not even sure what that means. But everyone likes things that are special, so it’s definitely worth checking out.
Svedka Open Bar from 8:30-9:30 pm
Doors open at 8 p.m. Click here to RSVP for free entry before 10pm; $3 w/RSVP after 10pm; $8 for peeps who need to be more organized.
2/18 Le CastleVania- Voyeur
Of all the most unexpected places, Le Castle Vania started dropping his grinding disco-punk electronica beats from his small hometown in Georgia. When his unrelenting sound was heard across the world, he quickly fled Georgia to kill the international circuit with his tracks “Zero Machine“, “Tigerton“, and “Trouble in Daylight”. His best remixes include the Smashing Pumpkins’ “Zero” and Fukkk Offf’s “Rave is King“.
It’s astonishing Voyeur isn’t selling tickets to this event: So get your name on this list, and get your a in the d before 10:30, so you can enjoy this killer DJ without paying that infuriating cover charge. If you arrive after 10:30, it’s a $10 charge: Still, well worth the $$$.
2/25 Turbo Teen for Falling Whistles Charity Event- Vin De Syrah
Wondering why everyone seems to be rockin’ the silver whistle necklaces lately? Itching to get one of your own?
Good on ya. Because 100% of the whistle sales will go to rehabilitate war-affected children in the Congo, and advocate for their freedom.
Head to Vin de Syrah February 25th for Falling Whistles: A Charity Event benefiting the campaign for peace in the Congo with DJs Mikey Beats, DJ Who, and TURBO TEEN throwing down electro beats on the 1s and 2s all night long.
TheMixster.com will also be hosting this awesome event, so come say hi and have a cocktail with me!
10% of the bar sales, 100% of the staff tips, and the DJs’ checks, will be going to benefit the Falling Whistles campaign.
Be a whistle-blower for peace. Sling that shiny whistle with pride – and don’t be surprised when you’re approached by strangers who want to blow your whistle: Every drunk loves shiny objects and things that make noise.
2/28 Steve Angello – Wintervention- Hard Rock Hotel
Get ready to Mix Things Up at Wintervention:
On Sunday, February 28th, from 2 – 7p.m., indulge in the ultimate escape: Retreat from the frosty chill and be transported back to the summer days. The 9,000 sq. ft. Legends ballroom at the Hard Rock Hotel will be transformed into a mock winter wonderland version of the Woodstock pool deck: Decked out to the nines with chaise lounges, day beds, and lux cabana furnishings.
Get down to upbeat house grooves from superstar DJ Steve Angello, of the Swedish House Mafia: His last appearance in San Diego, set Voyeur’s dance floor ablaze, spinning his wildly popular track that makes audiences (me included!) borderline fanatical – “Be “. I like this other track of his too, except that it gives me bad anxiety after about a minute into it.
Get your tickets here – They’re $25 bucks a pop: unless you use promo code “DJHERE” at check out- which will save you a cool $5.
2/28 Calvin Harris – Voyeur
Calvin Harris’ sound is unapologetically nu-disco dance. He’s a singer, performer, and an enthusiast for the eccentric. Think a Scottish male version of Kylie Minogue — colorful, sparkly, and über catchy.
His sound is perfect for those slowly starting to marinate into the electro scene: You’ve probably even heard his stuff before on one of those Ultra Dance or Now That’s What I call Music Volume 34720747 CDs you like to listen to at the gym. I personally dig his collab with Dizzee Rascal a whole bunch.
If you plan to make a full day of electro, starting with Steve Angello at Wintervention during the day, Calvin Harris’ DJ set will be a nice way to close out that massive day.
Tickets are $20 – Get them here
