Vindata – ‘Night Sky’ (Anthony Ross Remix) – Out April 8th, 2011

SD-based Producer Anthony Ross has reflipped Vindata: SoCal-based electro remix duo, comprised of Branden “Apollo” Ratcliff and Jared “Ark Angel” Poythress. And after much, MUCH anticipation and preparation (according to WordPress I originally started this article January 4th) the track will be available for purchase soon. Moreover, this proper filter house number is FINALLY ready to be shared with the world!

The original mix of “Night Sky” is a bit of a nu-disco-y, rad indie dance floor charmer punctuated by cooing synth melodies and aurally enchanting builds. Anthony Ross takes Night Sky” on a journey: encountering mosaics of bouncy, multifaceted builds and sassy vocal reworks, where all those sounds soon envelop into an infectious, yet unpredictable progression. The liberal use of various synth filters present a lovely contrast of airy sounds with Ross’ intentionally dynamic breaks: resulting in a delightfully dance floor-ready machine that will cause crowds to lose their hip shakes to its catchy groove.

Ross successfully maintains the overall fun and lighthearted vibe of the original, while simply approaching the track from a different creative perspective. It’s hard for me to choose which version I prefer as either could be so very easily integrated across various dance floors and event contexts alike, inside and outside the San Diego stomping grounds.

Simply: it’s one of those tracks that you just can’t help but smile when you hear. Otherwise, check your pulse.

BONUS:
Accompanying the original version is arguably the most “hipster” music video I have ever seen: It would have been rude not to include it.
So many hipsters in hipstery situations involving fixies, plaid shirts, high-tops, precisely-manicured ‘low-key’ hairdos: It’s just absolutely perfect. If you’re from San Diego, you’ll know this was filmed primarily in the Gaslamp. But if you’re really on it, you might even recognize a few familiar faces, including one from fellow MIXSTER and local producer David Afterlife. The video is extremely well-done and is also apparently directed by Vindata member, Branden Ratcliff himself.

The official download off SHAKE YOUR ASS Records will be available for purchase on April 8th, 2011 on Amazon.com
